Overview
Fire protection is not a pump — it is a packaged system of main pump, backup, jockey (pressure-maintenance) pump, pressure tank, controllers and valves, sized and commissioned together. The YEDJ family delivers that system on a skid, configured to match the site’s redundancy requirements.
Main pump hydraulics are drawn from the YST end-suction range (lower head) or the CDL vertical multistage range (higher head); the jockey pump is typically a small CDL.
Variants
| Variant | Composition |
|---|---|
| YEDJ | Electric main + diesel backup + jockey + accessories (full redundancy, NFPA 20) |
| YDDJ | Diesel main + jockey + accessories (off-grid sites) |
| YEJ | Electric main + jockey + accessories (economical grid-served sites) |
| YESJ | Electric main + electric backup + jockey (dual-electrical redundancy) |
How It Works
- System pressure is held by the jockey pump (small CDL), which tops up for minor leaks.
- On pressure drop (sprinkler head opens, hose valve cracked):
- A pressure switch fires the main fire pump within 10 seconds (NFPA 20).
- Jockey stays off while the main pump runs.
- Main pump runs until manually reset or system pressure is restored.
- On YEDJ / YESJ, loss of the main electric pump automatically starts the backup.
